Piano lessons are a wonderful opportunity for person growth and can bring a lifetime of enrichment to the student.The following policies help my lessons to run smoothly and enjoyably for everyone. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about them.Lessons are offered at my residence only. Please click on the map in the left menu for directions to my home and travel times. 

 

Parent Participation

I strongly encourage parent participation! In some cases, I will recommend it, at least for awhile, either to help the student behave properly during instruction, or to help the parent understand what is being taught, in order to help their child at home. 

 

Make Up Lessons & Reschedules

Please call and let me know if you must cancel a lesson for ANY reason. If I have to cancel a lesson due illness or a personal emergency, we will do a make-up lesson. If that is not possible, I will refund the fee for that lesson. If you need to miss a lesson, there will be no make-up lesson and no refund given. If you fail to show up for a lesson, there will not be a refund. Exceptions may be made for emergencies or planned vacations. Please remember that too many lesson cancellations may result in poor progress. Improvement greatly depends on consistent piano instruction and practice. Students may arrange in advance for a more flexible class and billing schedule during a month when vacations are planned, but please notify me before the first day of the vacation month.I reserve the right to discontinue classes if a student misses or reschedules more than 2-3 times a month.If a lesson is missed due to bad weather and a makeup lesson cannot be arranged, the student will receive a credit for the lesson missed.

 

Cancellations

My tuition terms are on a monthly basis. Payment is due on the 1st of the month. Payments received after the 7th of the month will be assessed a $10.00 late fee. Payments may be made by cash or check and are non-refundable. Please make checks payable to: Irina Berry. There is a $30.00 fee for checks that are returned due to insufficient funds. No credit cards please.

 

Time Slots

I reserve a specific time-slot for each student. If a student comes late, then I will extend the lesson up to 5 minutes, IF possible. If a lesson is scheduled immediately afterwards, then I may not be able to extend. If you arrive more than 5 minutes early and I am teaching a lesson, please try to wait outside until your lesson time. Some students are easily distracted or are very shy about playing in front of other people. I want to make sure that each student gets his/her full piano lesson, without interruption.  

 

Illnesses

Illnesses are easily spread from student to teacher to other students. PLEASE allow your children to rest and recuperate at home if they are feeling ill, rather than bring them to their lesson. I reserve the right to cut short any lesson in which it becomes evident that the student is ill with symptoms of a cough, cold, or flu. In that case, there will be no refund or reschedule.
